How to show strengths in the interview

3 phút đọc

Interviewing is an opportunity to show you are the best candidate for the position. But to do that, you yourself need to know your personal strengths. ViralHire will help you identify strengths as well as how to express them effectively when giving interviews.

Do you have personal strengths?

It is very important to have the strengths, skills and qualities related to the job you aim for. During the interview, you need to show that the skills you have – including hard and soft skills – are best suited for what they need for this position.

Take a few minutes to think about your personal strengths

If you are unsure of your strengths, try:

Take notes of what you like

What activities do you like best and what elements make it interesting? Is it because it has any specific skill or activity model? For example, if you like to play chess, your chances are that you have a strong systematic mindset and problem-solving abilities.

Review feedback from everyone

Remember things that others like or admire about you, such as your communication skills or how you organize a group. Or the times you get awards or recognition from the organization for a certain skill…

Take the test online

ViralHire has a personality and competency test so you can evaluate yourself right away and always.

Role models you aim for

Idols in the profession or in real life-what strengths do you admire, and do you have that in common?

“I know the enemy, I know the hundred wins.” At least you should have a list of strengths to choose from and share with the employer, right?

Mark personal strengths when interviewing

Once you’ve identified your strengths, practice intertwining them into answers to Common Interview Questions. Employers can ask according to the sample ” what is your greatest strength?”, or ask situational questions to assess behavior. But basically, the answer should be full of factors: situations – tasks – actions – results to show strengths.

Put yourself in a situation you’ve experienced to revise your strengths

Also: Focus on quality

Do not show off too many strengths, but choose only 3-5 industry – related strengths and make sense for the position being interviewed.

Examples:

“I believe that initiative, communication and organizational skills are my three greatest strengths. During my 3rd Year of college summer vacation, I was in charge of managing the content of the X newspaper’s website. I collaborated with the content Department to receive news articles and the technical department to refresh or edit the interface. Unlike my predecessor, I actively asked about the topic of the newspaper the following month, and proposed new ways of displaying on the website with technique. I make the interface and content change monthly in a way that is consistent with the subject of the print and ensures that all relevant members understand the effectiveness and message that these changes can convey.”

Emphasize with personal stories

Identify the stories you can share to prove the experience. Start by answering the question directly, then reinforce it with a personal share.

Examples“Curiosity and the ability to remember information about people is one of my greatest strengths. When I get a new project, I like to ask clients questions about their interests and needs, if possible. Through this, I can connect personally with them while ensuring productive work. I think the quality relationship with customers is very important for the sales program in particular and the company in general. So I believe I will be a good real estate salesman.”

A few more minutes to think about your personal strengths, maybe you will find ways to answer more creative interviews to highlight yourself. Be a candidate that makes the employer desirable, not just.
